Bonjour! Welcome to the weekend and another nice batch of our US stamps up for bid. There are 21 stamps on the block this week - several classic 19th century used stamps including Scott 68a, 88, 76, 20, 25, 26, and 189. The other 14 stamps are very early 20th century Washington-Franklin issues, some mint, some used. Many folks avoid the W-F stamps, as they can be a pain to identify unless you do it a lot - two types of watermarks (double line / single line), some with no watermark. And the W-F coils are scary, as there are lots of fakes out there.
Well, I’m confident that I’ve identified these correctly, including those coils, so you don’t have to go through it. Genuine coils have pretty specific dimensions between the two straight edges. If they “measure up” correctly and have NO traces of remaining perforation “bumps”, you can be about 99% assured your coil is genuine. And if you have a coil pair, that puts it at the 100% mark! Extremely difficult to fake a coil pair. Anyway, enjoy your bidding on these stamps!
Also, If you look in our eBay store of “fixed price” items, you will see a mint, original gum, previously hinged Scott 89, the 10 cent E-Grill stamp. It has been expertized and when sole will be accompanied by the certificate. This stamp has a Scott catalog value of $5,250. Yes, that’s right - over five thousand two hundred dollars. Got one of these in your collection? Probably not. But this one can be yours!
