Hello - and a chilly mid-winter greeting to everyone! And I do mean chilly - after the rain storm on Thursday the temperature really dropped off and we were greeted with a very, very frosty/icy Friday morning. Just a few miles to the east of us in the foothills around Placerville they got four inches of snow - and this is only at 1,800 foot elevation. Today it’s not as cold, but still - I think I’d rather be inside with a warm cup of tea this morning!
Tomorrow evening we’ve got 16 stamp auctions closing. The highlight of the group is a real nice four-margin Scott #1, the 5¢ Franklin stamp from 1847. Slightly faded, but no faults and a stamp that just about everyone would be proud to put in his/her album. In addition, you’ll find such nice offerings as Scott 24 (1¢ blue Franklin - unused), 91 (catalog value $625), 94, 77, 26 (unused), 68, 76, 186 (blue cancel), 73 (horizontal pair), 78a, 157, four examples of Scott 65, and one revenue stamp: Scott R92c. Lastly, we have the 1¢ through 10¢ 1893 Columbian stamps and the 1¢ through 10¢ coil set of Scott 597 - 603 (all mint except for Scott 599A).
Have fun bidding and I hope you like our offerings this week...
